Can be hard to detect the difference, but one who successfully suicide bombs was probably ideologically captured. One who flexibly changes their public ideological stances may be engaging in ideological posturing.

Is it plausible that a person can be repeatedly captured by different ideologies?

TGGP, yes it's plausible. It's less plausible to me that suicide bombers are engaging in ideological posturing. Aren't we just rehashing my post here, with more snark?

I wasn't trying to be snarky. I was just muddying the dichotomy between the captured and the protean. Some women have written about not being able to commit to one man but are "in love with being in love", and I think a similar phenomena can exist for those repeatedly subject to memetic capture.
