Interesting wired magazine interview of Kurzweil:

There's a lack of meta-criticism or skepticism of self which I don't relate to, but which is perhaps understandable as a status-enhancing performance.

For example, when he talks about "the purpose of life" I want to throw up in my mouth. It's this sort of uncritical egoism that allows one group to commit blitheful genocide. I point this out not because I oppose genocide, but because singularity-pushers could obliterate us all (themselves included) without greater internal skepticism and meta-awareness of how their psychologies might be warping the way they formulate their goals and pursue them.
